We are looking to hire a dedicated and efficient Catering Assistant to assist in all activities pertaining to event catering. The Catering Assistant’s responsibilities include execution of caterings, receiving and unloading deliveries, managing buffet stations, and refilling empty chafing dishes as required. You should also be able to pack up all catering equipment, dishes, and leftover food after events have concluded. To be successful as a Catering Assistant, you should demonstrate sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations to ensure the safety of event guests. Ultimately, an outstanding Catering Assistant should be able to demonstrate exceptional communication skills and achieve excellent customer service at all times.
Responsibilities:
- Creating and relaying prep list to kitchen staff based on catering orders placed.
- Work with the Catering Manager to ensure all products needed to execute catering jobs is ordered in a timely manner.
- Ensuring that all supplies needed for each catering job are organized and made available to clients.
- Ensuring all tableware and chafing dishes are properly cleaned and sanitized after each catering event.
- Ensure the cleanliness/organization of the catering space, including hot boxes, equipment, etc and the catering kitchen and/or any company vehicles being used.
- Some food preparation and execution may be necessary.
- Packaging, delivering, and setting up catering orders for clients.
- May be required to take catering orders over the phone and communicate to the Catering Manager for quotes.
- May be responsible for processing and collecting payments from clients.
- Will be responsible for buffet style set up, service, and break down as requested by clients.
- Might be required to work early mornings and late nights.
- Some lifting and labor intensive physical activity required.
- Catering Assistant will be responsible for helping grow the business, including but not limited to:
- Cold calling potential clients.

- Reaching out to existing clients for follow up and/or new business.

- Work with Catering Manager on ways to increase sales with existing clients.

- Become active in the community and work to get our name out as a top catering company.

- Actively seek ways to improve efficiency and cost to increase profitability.

- Proven experience working in the catering industry.
- Sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions under stressful situations.
- Flexibility to work during weekends and holidays.
